Reflections for this day and age

  • Dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you:
  • Compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, and discipline.
  • Be even-tempered, content with second place (with Christ in first place),
  • quick to forgive offence
  • Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you.
  • And regardless of what else you put on, put on love.
  • It's your basic, all-purpose garment.
  • Wear it at all times and in all places

The Beloved Community

  • My beloved friends let us continue to love each other,
  • since love comes from God
  • Everyone who loves is born of God
  • and experiences a relationship with God.
  • The person who refuses to love doesn't know the first thing about God,
  • because God is love;
  • You cannot know him if you do not love.
  • This is how God showed His love for us;
  • God sent His only son into the world
  • so that we might live through Him.
  • This is the kind of love we are talking about
  • not that we once upon a time loved God,
  • but that He loved us
  • and sent His son as a sacrifice to clear away our sins
  • and the damage they have done to our relationship with God.

God's New World

  • Jesus spoke these words to His followers, in particular,

You’re the important ones now, those of you who haven’t got much.
You’re citizens of God’s New World.

You’re the important ones now, those of you who are hungry.
You’re going to have plenty to eat.

You’re the important ones now, those of you who grieving.
    You’ll soon be laughing.

Think yourselves privileged when people despise and reject you, and when they insult you and call you names for being true to the ideals of the Complete Person.
Hold your heads high and keep your spirits up when that happens.
Better things are on the way to you in the world to come.
The ancestors of those who ill-treat you treated God’s speakers in the past in the same way.

To the back of the queue, those who are loaded with money!
    You’ve had your prizes.

To the back of the queue, those who are over-fed!
There won’t be any food to spare for you!

To the back of the queue, those who seek to be popular and famous!
The ancestors of the type who applaud you were taken in by the frauds of days gone by.
