The Village Hall

It costs just £5 an hour to use Dalwood Village Hall, and it can be hired for private parties as well as public events and classes. The hall can seat up to 100 people, and has a large car park, a well stocked kitchen, and nice clean loos. It also has wheelchair access, a disability-accessible loo, and an induction loop system (please mention when you book if you want to use the induction loop). Please phone Keith on 881739 for information about availability, and to make a booking.

Development Plans

The Trustees would like to keep everyone informed on our current progress.  Some two years ago it became apparent  that our Kitchen was totally inadequate in respect of space for food preparation and ability to meet stringent hygiene regulations required for health and safety laws.  Courtesy of funding from “Awards for All”, we appointed an Architect and a small sub-committee to investigate what was possible without compromising the attractive and unique status of the Hall.  Part way through the process we had a very generous offer of a small parcel of land belonging to Eileen Bull, that would allow an extension to the area occupied by the Ladies' toilet.  As a result we would be able to incorporate the Ladies', Gents' and a Unisex ground-level accessed Disabled Toilet.  This would release the area occupied by the Gents' Toilet to be enlarged and become the New Kitchen.

Our Architect proposed that we now had an opportunity to take a long term view and incorporate improvements through a vision for the future.  The current problem of lack of storage space at ground floor level has meant that we store all our chairs either on the Balcony or in the Gents Toilets Lobby.  The provision of a Small Meeting Room would be most useful as well as providing an additional source of income.  It is worth reminding everyone that we have a policy of keeping our Hire Rates as low as possible but we can only do this currently as we get 30% of our running costs from The Dalwood Fair Committee.
