"The friendliest village in Devon!"
How to find us
Coming from London or the North, on the A303:
About 10 miles after the Ilminster Services junction (with the A358 to Taunton) the A303 road merges on the left with the A30 to Chard (but the A303 has priority).
A few hundred yards after this junction with the A30 take the first left hand turn (signposted Stockland and Axminster).
Continue on this mainly long straight road (past the radio mast) for about 4.8 miles. Then at the Moorcox Cross crossroads turn left, signposted Dalwood. Continue down this road, ignoring turn-offs, and go past the school to Carter’s Cross. The centre of the village is straight ahead.
From the South West
Take the A30 to Honiton, and then the A35, signposted Dorchester. Continue on the A35 for about 5.7 miles. At Shute Garage (just after the Little Chef) take the left turn signposted Dalwood, and then the immediate right turn, also signposted Dalwood. Continue on this road to the Sunnylands T junction. Turn left, go about a quarter of a mile, and then turn right at the crossroads (Carter’s Cross) to the centre of the village.
From the East
Take the A35 towards Honiton. About 3 miles beyond Axminster, at Shute Garage, take the right turn signposted Dalwood, and then a second right turn, also signposted Dalwood. Continue on this road to the Sunnylands T junction. Turn left, go about a quarter of a mile, and then turn right at the crossroads (Carter’s Cross) to the centre of the village.
Our grid reference is ST 248 005. If you are coming for holiday and want an OS map, the relevant sheets are Landranger 193 (1¼ inches to 1 mile) or Explorer 116 (2½ inches to 1 mile).
